TV Licence to stay
The idea of the Broadcasting Charge to replace the currently €160 TV Licence has been shelved.

One TV licence covers all TVs in a house and covers any battery powered TV outside the house. Hotels, Guesthouses etc have different rules. A holiday home needs a separate licence as does a bed-sit with kitchen facilities, a shared dwelling only needs one Licence.
A Tuner in a PC or laptop or tablet, USB DVB-T sitc, cable box, sky box, etc count as a TV even if only feeding a monitor. An Amazon Fire stick, Apple TV or Chrome cast doesn’t need a TV licence as these can’t easily be used for live TV, they are intended for Video on Demand.
